- Firstly a number of factors contribute to weight loss and weight gain.
- Secondly, hormones play a critical role in how you gain and lose weight.
- And thirdly, there is no secret to weight loss because every person is unique, which means every person who wants to lose weight needs to address the major issues preventing them from doing so.
That said, technology offers us a number of aids to lose weight and in this article, I have summarised some of the key tech tools that you might find useful in your weight loss journey.
How to Lose Weight Fast With the Help of Technology
If your problem is that you don’t know what to eat, or aren’t on top of the nutrient and calorie breakdown of what you are consuming, then you might want to start with a calorie counter app. There are lots of great ones out there such as MyFitnessPal and Spark People.
With Calorie counters, you need to be accurate and honest – log everything you consume (Even if you’re little embarrassed about it), including drinks, sauces, and snacks. And buy a kitchen scale so that you can get accurate measures of what you are eating.
My experience is that you don’t need to use a calorie counter for the rest of your life. But gathering a few weeks of quality data will give you a good idea of what you are consuming and where you might want to make changes. It also gives you a good natural feel for how different food measures up – and that will stick with you for the long term.
Need Extra Motivation on How To Lose Weight?
If you feel you need extra motivation then there are a lot of apps out there that will help you stay on track. These include Fabulous which uses the principles of behavioral economics and iWish, which is a great app for general goal setting, tracking and visualizing.
If you need an extra push to overcome some of the beliefs that might be holding you back from reaching your goals, then I would suggest you look into some of the great weight loss hypnotherapy and meditation tools available.
Finally, did you know that sleep plays a major role in your ability to lose weight? That’s because not getting enough sleep reduces your willpower and compromises your decision-making ability, so you’re just less likely to make healthy choices.
But that’s just beginning.
Sleep deprivation seriously messes with your hormones, which has major knock-on effects for all parts of the weight loss process. Luckily, there is an app for that. Actually, there are many.
Finally, Jason Fung’s book convinced me of the benefits of intermittent fasting for helping to fight insulin resistance – one of the biggest factors preventing weight loss. And would you believe, there are apps to help you with that too!
Final Words: How to Lose Weight Fast
Good luck on your weight loss journey. Don’t buy into simplistic advice like “you just need to move more and take more magnesium” or “Become a Vegan” or “Eat more Meat”. Weight loss is a complex process that needs to be tackled on an individuals basis.
